This week I had an epic interview for Jiu-Jitsu Times. It was yet another opportunity to speak up about leading the way as a head professor and a career woman in a male dominated sport. I address subjects in a daring and possibly contentious way about the empowered woman in touch with her feminine power and all the while unapologetically owning it in a man's world. I also talk about my women’s online program www.girls-ontop.com and my Lifestyle Camp seminars and events to help bring women together and empower them through women’s specific learning and activities.
Some more photos from my interview with Jiujiteira Magazine. The photos in this article cover all aspects of who I am as the BJJ athlete AND that woman standing in her feminine power. Ladies, yes we can BE both. Lets’ embrace that side as the athlete but also the beautiful woman. They can go hand in hand.

I am blessed to be teaching a workshop on Feb 18 at Bodysport Fitness Center. This is stage 3 Lethal Ladies so the focus is rape prevention and dealing with situations while being pinned on your back. This is my favorite course because I show you how to kick ass and execute chokes shoulder locks and arm locks! 🤯 A great teaser into BJJ also for those who are curious but a little nervous about starting. This is a women only event and I strive to create a safe space for everyone to let go and learn. Sign up here to book your spot and hit me up for the family discount (mother daughter, sisters etc).
Last weekend I taught a women’s self defense workshop with Athleta at Redemption in Summerlin LV. I was so happy to see so many amazing ladies come to learn to further empower themselves. I taught a few techniques starting up and on the ground. I also covered a few basic physiologic aspects such as awareness and standing your ground.
Thank you Athleta for putting on this event and thank you for the gear! I love their clothing, but more importantly, I love what Athleta stands for. They strive to empower women and girls through fitness.
For those who missed it I am hosting my FightingFIT 6 week self defense/fitness course which starts on Monday June 17!. The course is more extensive and includes a SophiaFIT full body workout to get you fit and strong, toned and lean.
This past week I just returned from teaching some seminars in Michigan and CHicago. It was a really great experience to connect and train with my old training partner and to meet some new people. My seminar in Michigan was rewarding because I was able to help guild some young ones, whereby I feel it is so important that they see a female leading and teaching.
My seminar in Michigan was particularly rewarding since there was a big turn out and most of the students were men. Hats off to those progressive, open minded dudes out there who see the benefits of learning from a women. For all those ladies who are teaching, refereeing, running academies, running BJJ groups etc, this is a big step for such a profoundly male dominated sport. I am proud to be a part of the movement of empowered women in BJJ paving the way. #girlpower
